EproSpeech
What is Clinical Speech Intelligence?
Bluewire Technologies have developed EproSpeech, a Clinical Speech Intelligence solution, as an integral part of our wider Patient Management Information System, Epro.
Clinical Speech Intelligence combines
- Digital Dictation
- External (outsourced) Transcription Services
- Automatic Voice Recognition
- Traditional Audio Typing
- Specialized clinical data capture and reporting facilities
We looked at the whole process and all the options around production of clinical letters and discharge summaries, and combined the best available 'off the shelf' technologies with a few of our own, to create a solution enabling you to achieve maximum benefits applied to efficiency, productivity and patient safety.
Overview
Proven over several years, EproSpeech is designed to enable the Clinician and the Medical Secretariat sections to turnaround letters & reports, like Discharge Summaries, virtually instantly with minimal effort. The system even 'learns' the doctors' speciality words and phrases to optimize the automatic transcription of letters and reports. In addition, as Epro interfaces with the existing PAS system, patient and G.P. addresses are obtained and incorporated along with the dictated content into a standard letter format. Our new barcode patient identification facility will enable correct identification of the patient in the clinic or on the ward by using the mobile dictation device to scan a patient's barcoded wristband, file or prescription chart.
How
- Clinician dictates letter using your choice of dictaphone / microphone – the clinical speech intelligence software will remember the voice profile and special words and phrases for that particular speaker.
- The dictated letter is downloaded onto a PC with Epro software loaded.
- A draft text copy of the dictated letter is shown on the screen utilizing your choice of either automated voice transcription or external transcription.
- Any corrections are made either by Secretary or the Clinician themselves – at all times the original recorded version is available for comparison.
- Our unique 'stop word' feature, and integration with Microsoft Word Spellchecker, improve reliability in the correction process.
- Comments and scores related to any corrections are fed back to the Automatic Voice Recognition Engine or external service to maintain improve and accuracy.
- Once corrected, text is combined with the patients' demographic information from the PAS system, stored addressee details, copy recipient information and a final, formatted document is produced using Microsoft Word.
- The final document may then be approved (signed off) and sent to GPs etc.
- All versions (digital dictated, draft and final copy), together with a full audit trail are available in the patient record
- Additionally, a final copy may be exported to existing letter repositories if desired.
