• What hardware does epro need?

Epro will run on any PC: desktop, laptop or tablet. However, a tablet p.c. gives you mobility, bed side data collection capability and features such as handwriting recognition and sketching with EproInk

  • Our doctors have concerns that the software might slow them down. How do you address this?

Epro is designed from the ground up by clinicians to be sensitive to doctors' needs. Epro allows doctors to use it in a way that they are used to - either using Epro's standard interface, through user customisable forms, handwriting using digital ink technology or by dictating. Clinicians will be able to use the new system without significantly changing the way that they work, but will still benefit from the advantages of immediate availability of clinical patient information.

Users will find that Epro allows them to work more efficiently. Staff no longer spend significant amounts of time searching for records. Doctors will have a complete and accurate medical history in front of them at the point of care. Administrators have the ability to analyse and process large amounts of statistical data.

  • What is different about your Clinical Management Solution?

Epro differs in the quality of its design. Epro has been designed by clinicians and so 'thinks' like a clinician. It is designed around the way a clinician already works, for example, by using pen based tablet PCs and customised forms adapted to existing medical and business processes.

  • What support do you provide?

Every solution comes with a bespoke support package depending on the needs of the client. See our support page for more information.

  • Will you handle data backup?

We have in depth expertise to assist you with this important consideration. If you do not have an existing data backup and recovery strategy we can work with you to develop a plan that meets the requirements of your organisation.

  • We have our own forms and billing methods. Will we have to change these if we move to Epro?

No. Epro contains a powerful custom forms module which allows you to create electronic copies of your existing forms. These can be defined by each individual user, each of whom can build up their own library of forms which they commonly use.

Epro can export charge capture and patient visit information to your choice of billing software so that you can choose the combination of solutions that best fits your working practices.

  • Will we have to buy any special hardware to run Epro?

No. Epro is a web based application and so will run on any Microsoft Windows based client computer with Internet Explorer 6 or above. It requires a web / database server which can be anything from a standard desktop PC to a dedicated server cluster depending on the size and needs of the organisation.

  • Will I have to replace my existing PCs?

Probably not. Epro will run on any Microsoft Windows based PC with Internet Explorer 6 or above, and the machine it runs on requires minimal installation.

You can upgrade to tablet PCs, however, which have the advantage of being highly portable. Some doctors find the option of writing directly in to the PC to be easier than using a keyboard.

  • Aren't EPR systems only needed in large hospitals?

No. Small and medium sized insitutions can benefit greatly from EPR in the same way as large hospitals. They will experience a significant improvement in efficiency, reduced running costs and improved accuracy of information. Our flexible pricing structure reflects the size and needs of your organisation to make Epro a cost effective solution for everyone.

  • Is Epro a complete hospital information system?

No. Epro is a specialist clinical system. On its own, it deals with clinical information - charts, history, letters and other patient information, normally contained within paper case notes. It can also linked to scanned records. It is designed to be integrated with other HIS components to form a complete solution. If you would like to know how Epro might integrate with your system, please contact us.

  • Does Epro require a wireless network?

No. As Epro is web based will work efficiently and securely over any type of network connection. Epro has been tested extensively in both wired and wireless environments and has been optimised to use the network as efficiently as possible to minimise traffic.

  • What are the benefits of EPR?

EPR systems have been shown to provide significant benefits to healthcare organisations, including:

    • Instant, paper free access.
    • Reduced search time.
    • Reduced storage costs.
    • Reduced transcription costs.
    • Reduce malpractice costs.
    • Improved accuracy.
    • Increased Security.
    • Reduce non-billable time.
    • Total Control and vsibility.
    • Increase patient throughput.
    • Accurate coding and charge capture.
    • Quickly identify patterns in data.
  • Do all computers need Microsoft Office installed?

Only those computers which need to edit letters require Microsoft Word. Terminals can then view saved documents and reports directly in Epro without Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Excel is not required, although Epro can export information in Excel native format if needed.

  • What will happen to my existing patient records?

There are two approaches you can take: You can start afresh when Epro is deployed - you will have to refer to your current system for historical data, however. The second option is to perform a backfile conversion and import data from your current system into Epro either through digital scanning or direct data entry.
